HITRIplus at PTCOG Singapore – Building bridges for the future of European ion therapy

How the HITRIplus project is reaching out to industry and paving a way to market for its technologies

This June the HITRIplus Industry Relations Team (CERN, GSI and INFN), were present at the 62nd Annual Particle Therapy Conference (PTCOG) in Singapore. The outreach activities aimed to bridge the gap between the project’s research and industry to advance European heavy ion therapy cancer treatments.
HITRIplus’ booth gained significant interest from companies, researchers and students alike. Here, many conversations were sparked about HITRIplus’ cutting edge technologies, which were presented through value propositions on the advancements of; linacs, superconductive synchrotrons, CCT magnets, new accelerator control systems, and much more.
By reducing costs and dimensions, the project’s technical advancements could provide European companies with a competitive advantage in the expanding global ion therapy market, thus increasing the overall availability of ion therapy treatments for tumours that are not curable with X-rays or protons.
